Attraction Marketing:

The Humanization Of Business

Attraction MarketingAttraction marketing is based on the premise that you do business with people that you know, like and trust. This has always been the case in my opinion, but as more and more business is moving online it’s an important concept to remember and inject in our internet marketing efforts. Lets’ face it, we’re all becoming more sophisticated, or callused, in what we’ll accept on the internet. Personal engagement appears to be the latest marketing metric that brings a more human side to business. Internet marketers that grasp this concept and combine personal elements into an overall attraction marketing strategy will be the big winners.

I’ve been involved in a training program lead by top internet marketer and business coach Diane Hochman called “Instant Marketing Celebrity” and among other things she stresses how important interpersonal connections are online. She suggests that we can’t hide behind our laptops and expect to find success in our internet based businesses. I know it’s true with me as I’m attracted to people who let me into their lives and allow me to peer behind the curtain so to speak.

I’ve been in corporate sales for about 30 years and I know that the best customers that I’ve had through the years have been the ones in which we became friends. We weave business into an ongoing professional, but personal relationship. I’m guilty of walking away from that truth when I entered the internet marketing arena and am now searching to put it all back together again.

Attraction Marketing Is All Over The Place If You’re Aware Of It

It’s kind of funny how things happen. First I hear Diane Hochman talking about injecting your personality into you business and then I get emails from Kim Roach and another one from David Perry, an LinkedIn connection, all talking about the same thing.

I’m on all sorts of email lists and I usually unsubscribe from people who pitch me all the time. It gets tiring after a while. I’m on a list from an online marketer named Dennis Beckley right now. I’ve never bought anything from him, but I keep opening his emails because he started talking about his scare with cancer and that combined with his engaging writing style keep me interested.

Inject Your Peronality Into Your Attraction Marketing

This is what I see happening. The attraction marketing concept is a viable and effective approach. When we do it right, we make connections and build friendships that result in an ongoing an healthy business relationship. Marketers who are all hype or too pushy will not succeed in the long run. Those of us who are engaging and inject our personality into a solid marketing effort will thrive.

Let Me Entertain You

Another key component of attraction marketing is that we can’t bore our readers or video watchers to death. We have to entertain our audience too. We often live our lives vicariously through others so it’s important to weave bits of our personal lives into our content. Obviously some people are naturally better at this than others, but it can be practiced and learned as well. My goal is to adjust my rather stiff, formal writing style into a friendlier, outgoing approach. It’s a process, not on on/off switch.

My goal in writing this article has been to let you know about a positive marketing trend that has emerged and at the same time convince myself that it’s a trend that I need to embrace as well.

Let’s Get Real

Attraction marketing as practiced on the internet means that we need to provide ongoing value to our subscribers, customers and colleagues and build a solid personal, vibrant relationship along the way. Just make marketing fun and put a smile on someones face. That way people will see us a trusted friends rather than sales people. This will make it much more likely that our emails will get opened, out content read and our offers purchased.
