Online Web Marketing: Top 6 Predictions for 2012

Online web MarketingOnline web marketing has come of age. Cyber Monday holiday sales increased by 22% over 2010 and now online sales growth is outpacing that of traditional brick and mortar. Online consumers and internet visitors in general are becoming increasingly more sophisticated and searching multiple sources before making decisions. What does all this mean for us in the online web marketing arena and what should we focus on moving forward? Here are my top 6 predictions for what will become more important as we move into 2012 and beyond.

Online Web Marketing

  1. Content Is Still King
  2. Broad Web-Presence
  3. Broad Niche Web-Presence
  4. Reputation Management
  5. Low Bounce Rate
  6. High Click Through Rate

Content Is Still King

Quality, original content that is compelling to your readers is and will continue to be a primary focus. The continuing Google algorithm adjustments are penalizing sites with little to offer and are only iced as a cheap adverting platform. Google feverishly attempts to deliver the most relevant information to its search visitors and those of us who can navigate their treacherous maters will be rewarded with improved page rank and increased blog traffic.

Broad Web-Presence

Those of us practicing online web marketing should make sure that we have a solid presence throughout the internet. Those of us that use article marketing, video marketing and social media marketing to increase our overall exposure will be rewarded. A couple of outfits have popped up recently that actually measure our overall social media impact. Check out Klout.com and Proskore.com to see how well you are doing in penetrating and influencing various social sites such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and LinkedIn. Social sharing providers such as Tribe Pro and Only Wire can also help you create a wide social media presence.

Broad Niche Web-Presence

Internet marketers who provide increasing more value within their specific niche will be rewarded. Make yourself a known presence in your niche and again make sure that your using every avenue available to deliver your message. Once you have created original content, it can be repurposed any number of ways, including creating videos that can distributed easily to multiple video directories with Tube Mogul.com. You can MP3 content by using the audio only from your videos and submitting them to Amazon.com and iTunes. Another idea is to create a Power Point presentation with the same content and then submitting that to SlideShare.com. You can even make a PDF version of your content and submit it to online documents directories such as Scribd.com.

Reputation Management

For this of us with operating smaller online web marketing businesses, it’s important for us to remain above board and honest and strive to adhere to accepted practices. Just remember that the internet doesn’t forget.

Low Bounce-Rate

A lower bounce-rate comes hand-in-hand with quality content. Bounce-rate is defined as the percentage of visitors who leave your site without going to other posts and pages. As you know, the goal is to get visitors to your blog and then keep them there as lingo as possible. This will improves your conversion rates and increase your clout with the search engines. It’s a measure that they really pay attention to when they reward page rank. Use Google Analytics and Awstats to keep on top of that for your online web marketing.

High Click Through-Rate

Click-Through-Rates (CTR) are importune for those of us who use paid advertising as part of our online web marketing strategies. A CTR is defined as the number of impressions divided by the number of clicks. So if your ad receives 100 impressions and you get 1 click then your
CTR is 1%. I know that my goal is to create a sustainable business presence and everything that we can do to measure, track, split-test and adjust will increase our profitability.

Online Web Marketing

So those are the 6 top predictions I have for what will be the emerging success strategies in internet marketing in 2012 and beyond. Unfortunately the days of the internet being the wild west are gone and everybody online these days is increasingly sophisticated and cautious at the same time. Just strive to offer quality with integrity and an eye toward solid business principles and we all will do very well.
